• Monocrystalline silicon is the most efficient of the solar panels available. It produces the smallest solar cells and therefore has the smallest panels.
• Amorphous (or thin-film) silicon uses the least amount of silicon and therefore is much cheaper to produce. However, it also produces the least efficient solar cells.

Monocrystalline solar panels work very well in bright cool conditions, like Southern Australia, whereas amorphous (thin-film) solar panels will be more efficient at higher temperatures, such as Northern Australia.
