MPA provides a solution for remote solar power
Recognising the need for a solution to provide remote solar power to farms and other rural properties and given our in-house engineering capabilities, MPA Energy Solutions has recently designed two solar structures for use in remote or rural applications - the solarPad and the solarPad shed.
The solarPad - solar for farms
The solarPad has been designed by MPA Energy Solutions to provide solar for farms. It offers an innovative, cost effective alternative to expensive large scale ground mount solar power systems.
Using thin film PV panels as the roof surface, combined with a prefabricated 'shed like' tilted structure and a top quality inverter to create a remote solar system, the solarPad provides a unique structure whereby the space underneath the structure can be utilised as additional storage for parking vehicles, storing materials or running chickens. The PV panels are assembled into 5 panel modules by MPA Energy Solutions in our warehouse using highly skilled, in-house electricians to fit and install all DC cabling, circuit breakers and enclosures. The kit is then shipped quickly and easily to site where the modules are inserted into the custom designed structure. The structure, designed to an N3 wind rating, is easily installed using standard shed/carport foundations and construction methods. Due to the fact that it can be positioned anywhere, the solarPad can be offered as a grid connect or stand alone solar power system.

The solarPad Shed - stand alone solar
The solarPad Shed has also been designed by MPA Energy Solutions to provide solar specifically to remote areas. The solar shed provides stand alone solar power and offers a cost effective alternative to homes and other rural properties not connected to a power grid.
The shed is a metal fabricated, stand alone structure that is supplied complete with PV monocrystalline panels and a battery bank. Again, the shed is manufactured in-house to an N3 wind rating and is fitted complete with all electrical switchgear and wiring. The battery bank and control board are both housed inside the solar shed thereby not using valuable space in garages and other sheds.
The solarPad Shed is available in a variety of sizes up to 3kW and can be integrated into an existing diesel generator power supply when required.
Rebates and Incentives for Stand Alone Power
Households not connected to the power grid can also take advantage of the government solar rebates.
Households and businesses installing systems on buildings more than a kilometre from the main grid or who have evidence that it would cost in excess of $30,000 to connect to mains power will be eligible to receive the RECs multiplier for the first 20kW of their system installed. Currently the RECs multiplier is a factor of five, so the savings can amount to tens of thousands of dollars for systems rated at the maximum level!
However, there is a cap on the number of systems eligible each year, so if you're considering an stand alone solar power system, it would be prudent to act fast!
Under the amendments, off grid systems are eligible for RECs up to the first 20 kW of system capacity if:
· The system is an off-grid small generation unit and
· Was installed after 28 June 2010 and before 1 July 2015; and
· Must be eligible for RECs.
